Hurricane Evacuees in Violent Confrontation
HOUSTON, November 28, 2005 - Houston police have arrested and charged a 19-year-old in the fatal shooting death that occurred at 6001 Sunforest on November 26, 2005 at about 5:50 p.m.
According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M.D. Newcomb and Officer T. Huynh, officers responded to a shooting call that occurred at 5747 Antoine and learned that the actual location of the incident was 6001 Sunforest.
Witnesses reported that the victim was shot in front of apartment #2203 and collapsed in the courtyard. The victim was placed in a vehicle by two males and driven to a gas station at 5747 Antoine. HFD paramedics responded and transported the victim to Ben Taub General Hospital where he died.
The suspect in the shooting, Jamal Taylor, a black male, was taken into custody and charged with murder in the 263th State District Court. The victim and suspect are both evacuees from New Orleans.
