Watch Out in Construction Zones on FM 1409

DAYTON, June 20, 2005 – Shortly after 4:00 PM on Monday a two-vehicle accident occurred in the construction zone on FM 1409.

Caution is advised while driving on FM 1409 as the roadway is undergoing much needed improvements. During the day traffic in places is restricted to only one lane and flagmen are directing the flow of traffic.

Such was the case today when a red Chevy pickup driven by Joni Mooring Gordon age 45 of Huffman, traveling southbound on FM 1409 about 3 miles south of US 90, collided with the rear of a tan Chevy pickup that was stopped by flagmen allowing northbound traffic to pass, according to DPS Trooper Mary Phillips.

The red Chevy rear-ended the other truck that was driven by Bernard Huff age 44 of Dayton.

 

Liberty County EMS responded to the scene of the accident. Luckily there were no injuries and the ambulance transported no one. Gordon received citations for Failure to Control Speed and No Liability Insurance. She was also taken into custody and transported to the Liberty County Jail for Driving While License Suspended.
