Fugitive Escapes from Patrol Car

LIBERTY, December 30, 2005 - Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputies initiated a traffic stop on CR 133 N around 7:22 PM on Thursday. The vehicle stopped was a Toyota 4 door driven by Jimmy Fregia age 38 of Daisetta.

Fregia was placed under arrested for Driving While License Suspended. During the search of his person he was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.
Fregia was handcuffed and placed in the rear seat of the patrol car while offices completed their investigation.

According to Sheriff Greg Arthur, Fregia managed to get the window down in the patrol car and fled on foot from the scene while still in handcuffs.

Liberty County Sheriff’s Department Deputies assisted by DPS Troopers searched for Fregia. However, as of midday on Friday he remains at large.

UPDATE, Friday, 6:57 PM...

Sources at the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department stated that on late Friday afternoon, Jimmy Fregia, a fugitive from justice, was apprehended in an abandoned house in  the area of Lake Granada off CR 133 S in good condition after fleeing from police yesterday. He was arrested without incident as the result of information received by investigators. Captain Chip Fairchild stated that the handcuffs he was in at the time he fled from officers had been cut but were still on his wrists.
