Captain Chip Fairchild, Sergeant Investigators Mark Ellington, Joe Culp, and Pete Vela arrested Humberto Ledesma, a 23-year old Hispanic male, at approximately 2:30 a.m. on December 30, 2005, in South Houston on a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Ledesma was allegedly involved in the attack of a Dayton woman and her 16-year old son as they were leaving for school on the morning of December 16th. The victim left the driveway of her home in her SUV and was blocked in front by another vehicle. Several shots were fired at the victims vehicle. One bullet went through the windshield and struck the victim in the hand. While the shots were being fired, a second vehicle pulled up behind the victims SUV. The victim put her SUV in reverse and rammed the vehicle behind her in order to escape. The second vehicle, a 1997 black Ford F150, was disabled and was subsequently located by sheriffs investigators. Later, the vehicle was reported as stolen out of Houston. Liberty County Sheriff Greg Arthur said, The investigation will continue in this case, and I expect more arrests in the future.
