Traffic Stop leads to Search of Residence Two in Custody LIBERTY, April 8, 2005 - Around 5:30 PM on Friday a traffic stop was conducted by the Department of Public Safety south of US 90 in the area of Lawrence Street, on the east end of Liberty, behind a local restaurant. According DPS Sgt. Brian Nichols, the driver of the vehicle was known to the DPS Narcotics Service and the Chambers Liberty County Narcotics Task Force as the result of an ongoing narcotics investigation assisted by Liberty and Dayton Police. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Clint Larive age 22 of Liberty. According to Nichols, while the traffic stop was being conducted a substantial amount of what appeared to be cocaine in powder form was thrown from the vehicle. The powdered substance was recovered and Larive was taken into custody. Larive resides in the 100 block of Walker Street only a short distance from where the traffic stop occurred according to investigators. During the investigation at the location of the traffic stop, Hannah Dann Cross, age 19 of Liberty arrived at the scene by car. According to investigators, she also resides at the residence of Mr. Larive in the 100 block of Walker Street. According to Nichols, consent to search the residence on Walker Street was obtained from Hannah Cross and DPS Troopers, as well as members of the DPS Narcotics Service, City of Dayton Police and City of Liberty Police went to the residence to conduct the search. According to Nichols, found in the residence were substantial amounts of what appeared to be powdered cocaine, a green leafy substance thought to be marijuana, and prescription drugs. Hannah Cross was arrested at the residence and taken into custody. Both Cross and Larive were transported to the Liberty County Jail on several drug related charges including Possession of a Controlled Substance according to Sgt. Nichols with the DPS Narcotics Service assigned to the Liberty Chambers Counties Narcotics Task force in Mont Belvieu, TX.
