Multi-Agency Narcotics Investigations Yield Results

DAISETTA, June 17, 2005 - In a concerted effort to continue its battle against illegal narcotics, the Liberty County Precinct #2 Constable’s Office joined forces with both the Daisetta Police Department and the Chambers-Liberty County Narcotics Task Force, on Thursday, June 16th, to further convey the message that the possession of illegal drugs won’t be tolerated. Law enforcement officers from all three agencies formed two separate teams which made contact with several persons in the Hull, Daisetta, and Raywood areas while performing “Knock & Talk” investigations at approximately 14 residences.

The locations of these investigations were determined after law enforcement pooled narcotics intelligence reports and targeted certain individuals who were believed to be involved in the sales and distribution of illegal narcotics, including prescription drugs, and also those who were believed to be in possession of these substances.

The first suspect taken to custody during this multi-agency investigation was 42-year-old Rebecca Lara Martin of County Road 2403, Hull, Texas. Martin is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Crystal Methamphetamine, a State Jail Felony. She was incarcerated at the Liberty County Jail and a bond of $15,000.00 was set.
The second suspect taken into custody was a white male, 45-year-old Don Matthews, #20 CR 2437, Hull, Texas. Matthews is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Hydrocodone, a State Jail Felony and a second charge of Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor. Matthews is also incarcerated in the Liberty County Jail. A bond of $15,000.00 was set for the controlled subtstance charge and a $1,000.00 bond was set for the marijuana charge.
The third suspect arrested was a white male, identified as being 38-year-old Jimmy Lazine Fregia of Old FM Hwy 770 / P.O. Box 292 Daisetta, Texas. Fregia is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Crack Cocaine, a State Jail Felony. Fregia was also incarcerated in the Liberty County Jail and a bond of $15,000.00 was set. Fregia also had an outstanding warrant for Driving While Intoxicated, a capias issued out of County Court, Liberty County, Texas with a fine of $900.00.

“The above mentioned agencies have been receiving numerous tips and leads concerning illegal drug activity within the Hull-Daisetta and Raywood area,” said Constable Jimmy Belt. “The above agencies, working in a concerted effort will be continuing these types of investigations vigorously to make our communities a safer place and one in which the citizens of our area will feel safe being a part
of.”

“These suspects arrested today are but a few of the suspects that are already known to us,” said Chief Mike Parrish. “ I believe that Liberty County law enforcement will continue to tirelessly pursue every lead, every tip, and every suspect and we will do so until the message is clear that the citizens of Liberty County are tired of these types of offenders plaguing our communities.”

Constable Belt and Chief Parrish both agree that these investigations will certainly continue and Liberty County citizens can be assured that these agencies are aware of many others in the community who violate drug laws continually.

Final thought from the above mentioned law enforcement agencies: “You know who you are – WE know who you are...”
