Pursuit Ends in Chambers County

MOSS BLUFF, November 29, 2003 - According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department, a pursuit began on FM 563 near Hylton’s Grocery, when a Deputy on patrol noticed a light out on a passing pickup truck. The Deputy turned around on the vehicle in order to affect a traffic stop and the pickup fled south on FM 563. Speeds of the vehicles reached about 100 miles per hour during the pursuit.

The fleeing pickup truck made a turn onto Wallisville Liberty Road off FM 563 only a short distance north of I-10 in Chambers County. Chambers County Sheriff’s Department was notified and assisted in the pursuit.

The vehicle turned onto No. Nine road, traveled a short distance when the driver, identified as Kenneth Jackson of Wallisville, bailed out and fled into the woods. The passenger in the pickup, Curtis Jackson, age 36 of Wallisville, was taken into custody, charged with Public Intoxication and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

Mr. Kenneth Jackson, brother of Curtis Jackson, was not apprehended. He was charged with Fleeing and Evading Arrest and Detention. Mr. Kenneth Jackson had outstanding warrants from another jurisdiction.
