Head On Collision in Horseshoe Lake Estates
ROMAYOR, December 26, 2003 Around 6:30 PM on Friday the Liberty County Sheriffs Dispatcher was notified of a head-on collision involving one of its patrol vehicles in Horseshoe Lake Estates in far north Liberty County.
According to DPS Trooper Klent Tipton LCSO Deputy Joshua Taylor age 23 of Liberty was traveling north on CR 2850 just past CR 2857 when his vehicle collided with a blue Ford econoline van driven by Vicki Sue Hoffman age 43 of Romayor traveling south.
According to Trooper Tipton, the van failed to give half of the roadway and the front left quarter of each of the vehicles collided. The force of the collision knocked the Ford Crown Victoria patrol vehicle backward approximately 15 feet and the air bags in the vehicle deployed.
Liberty County EMS transported Deputy Taylor and Cleveland EMS transported Ms. Hoffman to Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Cleveland, both in stable condition.
Trooper Tipton stated that he observed the odor of alcohol on Ms. Hoffman and a blood sample was taken into evidence for analysis. The possibility of the Ms. Tipton being under the influence of alcohol is a matter of further investigation by the Department of Public Safety.
This accident occurred only a couple of hundred feet from the location of a previous accident involving and LCSO Patrol Vehicle on November 23, 2003. See related story Patrol Car Damaged in Accident
