TVE Baby Parade Theme Announced

LIBERTY, May 29, 2003 - The theme for the 2003 Trinity Valley Exposition Baby Parade will be Sports and Outdoors. The Baby Parade will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. The Baby Parade participants should be ages infant through kindergarten. The parade route will be down Main Street and around the Courthouse Square in Liberty. Parade Chairman is Jennifer Regen.

Each entry will be required to have a completed entry form and a $10.00 entry fee on or before Wednesday, October 8, 2003. The entry will not be taken until both the form and the fee is completed. There will be no refunds made once you have entered.

Walking - A child or group of children walking without assistance from an individual or vehicle.

Riding - A child or group of children riding in a non-motorized vehicle such as a stroller, bicycle, or wagon. Battery operated vehicles will be allowed. Platforms may not be built on the vehicle.

Western Riding - A child or group of children riding on an animal, or being pulled by an animal in a wagon or buggy.

Small Float - A group of 5 or less children riding on a float with the base no larger than 4' x 8' and height not to exceed 14'. These floats will be measured before the parade to prevent any discrepancies. Any float that exceeds the measurements set will be moved into the large float division. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

Large Float - A group of 10 or less children riding on a float with a base no larger than 12' wide and 14' tall. The builders with regard to the turns necessary on the parade route should determine the length.


Every contestant will receive a participation ribbon. There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place award given in each division. There will also be awards given for the Best Over All entry, the Best Costume Over All, and Best Performance of an individual. Awards will be given out thirty minutes after the conclusion of the parade on the courthouse steps.


The following items will be the most critical points the judges will be looking for when determining placing for awards. Not all of these things apply to all divisions.

Costumes - Neatness, originality, materials, and colors.

Moving Parts - Mechanical devices that make parts on your entry move.

Textures - Multiple materials (example: tissue paper, paper mach, wood, etc.)

Color Scheme - The use of coordinating colors that catch the eye and make the objects on your entry stand out.

Special Effects - The use of unusual items such as water, bubbles, balloons, etc.

Overall Appearance - Neatness of construction, stuffing, correct proportions, and effort.Judges will score the entries on scale of one to five with one being the lowest and five being the highest.

The judges will determine all ties. Every attempt will be made to find fair and impartial judges. The judges should be treated with respect and gratitude by all contestants. ALL JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL.

As always, this is an amateur event and no one will be allowed to use professional help on his or her entry. Anyone found disregarding this rule will be disqualified from receiving awards.Parade Chairman Jennifer Regen can be reached at 936-334-9687 for any questions.
