Do NOT Return to Liberty at this Time (PHOTOS)

LIBERTY, September 13, 2008 - The Liberty County Sheriff’s Department urges all residents NOT to return to Liberty at this time. Roads are covered in debris and many are blocked. Additional traffic on the roadway will hamper the efforts of emergency personnel to respond to calls.

At this time Quality Care Plus is open to handle minor medical emergencies. Liberty Dayton Community Hospital is closed today but will reopen on limited hours tomorrow in the ER and for minor emergencies.

There are numerous reports of trees on houses and manufactured homes that LCSO Deputies must investigate.

There is no power in the city of Liberty and the surrounding area.
